Scope and Contents

From the Collection: Collection contains memorabilia and papers from the January 27, 2001 plane crash. The memorabilia includes posters, banners, silk flowers, teddy bears, etc. brought to Gallagher-Iba Arena in the weeks following the crash. It also contains newspaper, Internet, and broadcast media coverage reporting the event; the University's Memorial Service on January 31; the investigation of the crash; and subsequent memorial events. The papers include sympathy cards sent to the basketball team, the athletic department, and the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents, newspapers from the Big XII universities, prayer cards, programs, and texts of sermons from the ten funerals, off campus memorial services, and the University's memorial service.

The collection is open for research use.
