From the Collection: This is a small collection of materials belonging to former OSU Art Faculty Member Herbert Gottfried. The materials pertain Gottfried's study of "pre-cut" homes and the Sears Conway house, one of a series of vernacular homes that could be bought from the Sears, Roebuck and Co. Catalog from the late 1900's to the early 1940's. These houses were designed as kit homes that could be ordered and shipped in stages by rail for construction in neighborhoods. This collection primarily focuses on the "Conway" style home and includes photocopied pages from a Sears catalog for the home as well as a photocopied paperwork for a home in New York in 1927.
