Biographical Sketch

Robert Nott Maddox (September 29, 1925-April 9, 2008) was born in Winslow, Arizona to Robert Lee Maddox and Mabel Elizabeth Nott. He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas in 1948, and his Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. He moved to Stillwater, OK and began work on his Ph.D. at Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University). He received his doctorate in 1954. He was appointed as Full Professor and Head of the Chemical Engineering department at OAMC in 1958 (a position he held until 1977), and was one of the youngest department heads at an accredited school in the country.

Dr. Maddox held a plethora of positions in various chemical and chemical engineering societies. He published 8 books, 150 technical publications, and 90 short courses during his career. His obituary can be viewed here, or by consulting the repository's data file.
