Biographical Sketch

Carl P. "Hog" Thompson (1884-1965) joined the OAMC Animal Husbandry staff as an instructor in 1918. Born in Garrison, Kansas, he received his B.S. in Agriculture from Kansas State Agricultural College in 1904, his M.S. in Animal Husbandry from OAMC in 1922, and his Ph.D. from Iowa State. He became the department's swine specialist. Henry G. Bennett, OAMC President, relieved Thompson of his teaching duties and names him "Goodwill Ambassador" for the college in 1949. Thompson was known for his humorous stories and was a favorite speaker at gatherings. Thompson retired from Oklahoma State University in 1958.
