Collection contains four of the original ten Territory of Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College Bonds issued to Kansas First Agency of New York City, N.Y. for $1000.00 each. This collection contains four of the original ten territorial bonds: numbers 1, 2, 8, and 10.

Part of the establishment of Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (OAMC) in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Signed on August 6th, 1892.

Administrative History

Four of the original series of ten bonds issued by Town of Stillwater, County of Payne, Territory of Oklahoma, on August 6th, 1892, due to twenty years from date, the proceeds of such bonds being applied as required by the Act of the Territorial Legislature to the establishing of the Oklahoma Agricultural Mechanical College at Stillwater. These bonds were paid promptly at maturity, being the only first issue bonds of any municipality in the State of Oklahoma paid at maturity without refunding. The series of ten bonds is regarded as the foundation of the Greatest Education Institution now in the State of Oklahoma [Quoted from informational caption attached to two of the three bonds].
