Biographical Sketch

N. (Napoleon) Jack Conger (b. Smithville, TN; Aug. 21, 1882-?) graduated from Cumberland University in 1911 with his LL.D. In 1917, he received a B.S. from the University of Ohio, and by 1929 his M.A. (1921) and Ph.D. from Columbia. He was an ordained minister and was admitted to the bar in Tennessee. He also taught common school (1905-1909), was director of the department of education at Sue Bennett Memorial School, London, KY, and director of the training school at Southeastern Normal School in Durant, OK. In 1929, he was appointed director of personnel at Oklahoma A&M College by Henry Bennett and from 1936-1948 was dean of education. Between 1931 and 1934 he was the Oklahoma State Certification Officer. In 1949 he became dean emeritus.
