Scope and Contents

Collection contains books and pamphlets on typography, type and printing examples and catalogs. Original wood cut illustrations removed from unknown sources, original and facsimile leaves of 15th to 20th century printing and manuscripts. Two volume Gutenberg bible facsimile and research volume by Paul Schwenke.

Books from this collection were dispersed into the OSU Book Collection. These books have their book box number given in the finding aid.

Biographical Sketch

Otto Maurice Forkert (1901-1991) was the founder and chairman of Forkert, Blome and Associates. He spent his life as a graphics designer and consultant.

A native of Zurich, Switzerland, he graduated from the Art Instituit Orel Puszli in Zurich. After graduation, he came to Chicago and joined the printing firm of R.R. Donnelly & Sons Co. where he established the firm's design school.
