Adminstrative History

The Stillwater, Oklahoma chapter of the AAUW was formed in 1923. The AAUW was founded in 1882 and is open to any woman who is a graduate of a college or university. The organization works for equal opportunity and social change through education. The Stillwater chapter was nationally recognized in 1931 with the help of the Dean of Women, Julia Stout. Its members participated in many projects, including the regulation of campus housing conditions, the creation of a loan fund for female students, assistance of rural schools, and participation in civil rights activities.
