Biographical Sketch

Henry Howard Finnell (1894-1960) was an agronomist and erosion specialist. Finnell graduated from Oklahoma A&M College (OAMC) (1917), was foreman of the OAMC Experiment Station (1917-1920), director of Panhandle A&M Experiment Station (1923-1934), and then placed in charge of the Soil Conservation Service Dust Bowl experiment in Dalhart, Texas. A year later he was appointed by President H. H. Bennett head of Region VI of the Soil Conservation Service, a dust bowl research program for the eleven great plain states in the Southern Dust Bowl region. Finnell passed away in 1960.
