Collection contains scattered issues of four different newspapers under five titles:

(1) Stars and Stripes (1918-1919), the unofficial newspaper of the U.S. Armed Forces published under the auspices of the Information and Education Service, U.S. Armed Forces;

(2) WhatsMyName (1942), a publication designed and edited for and by the men of the United States Marine Corps, Marine Corps Base, San Diego, California;

(3) Marine Corps Chevron (1942), continues WhatsMyName;

(4) Pacific Stars and Stripes (1948-1950), published by the Information and Education Detachment, General Headquarters, American Forces in the Pacific (GHQ AFPAC);

(5) Stars and Stripes European editions (Altdorf, Nurnberger Land Germany European edition (1946); and Pfungstadt, Germany European edition (1947-1948), the unofficial paper of U.S. Armed Forces in the European Theater published under auspices of: Information and Education Service (USFET).
