Scope and Contents

Collection contains directories of students and faculty of Oklahoma A&M College, later Oklahoma State University. Early directories, until about 1935/36, were published in cooperation with the campus YMCA and YWCA organizations. In the 1930's and 1940's there are a few summer directories that list only students. Until 1993/94 most of the directories list students and faculty and staff. From 1916/17 to 1993/94 the hometowns or home addresses of students were usually included. As of 1994/95 the publication became a campus directory; the only students listed are those living in campus residential facilities, and faculty and staff included are those for which responses to an inquiry are returned in May.

The collection is open for research use. Administrative History

The publication was called the “Student Directory” until 1951/52. It was the “Student-Faculty Directory” for most years from 1952/53 through 1988/89, after which it tended to be called the “Student-Faculty-Staff Directory.” In 1993/94 the title was changed to the “Campus Directory,” followed a year later by the change in coverage noted above in the preceding paragraph.



Note: Through 1948/49 there also was a ‘register of students’ at the back of the college catalog.

Acquired periodically from various sources. New added volumes are received early in the fall semester.

For the Archives retain one copy, with additional copies of early directories primarily for exhibit purposes. Separate copies are kept and bound every 3 years for Special Collections Reference (medium blue #714 changed to bright medium blue #588) and for the Browsing Room.
