Administrative History

The Program entitled OSU-Kyoto began in 1990 under the direction of Neil Hackett. OSU-Kyoto was a branch of OSU that ran a five-year educational program. The first, fourth and fifth years of educational study were completed on the OSU Stillwater campus while the second and third years of study were completed on the OSU-Kyoto campus in Kameoka. OSU-K evolved from the sister city relationship Stillwater has with Kameoka, Japan. The OSU Educational and Research Foundation worked with the Japan Urban Development Corporation to establish a program and a campus built by the Japanese. The first class consisted of approximately 200 students who began their course of study at OSU Stillwater in May, 1990. The last listing for OSU-Kyoto is in the 1995-1996 OSU Course Catalog.
