Administrative History

In the spring of 1924 the Oklahoma A&M Press Club announced that it would publish a humor magazine on a regular schedule. Previously a humor issue had been printed for the fall and spring carnivals. The Aggievator “will contain the latest wit of the campus, and the regular student comedy which is alone peculiar to colleges and universities,” according to the O’Collegian. The Aggievator was the invention of Houston Overby, who was described as “a brilliant student who preferred sleeping to going to class.” The magazine pushed the limits of what was considered acceptable humor and often upset the administration.
