Biographical Sketch

Betty Scovill Stratton (1919-2013) was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on June 28, 1919 to Clayton and Winifred Scovill. She received an associate's degree from Bowling Green State University (OH). She married John B. Stratton in 1946.

The Strattons moved to Stillwater, OK, where John Stratton began work at the Oklahoma A&M College library. They were sent to Ethiopia to assist in building a college library as part of the College's agreement to help establish an agricultural college in Ethiopia.

Upon their return to Stillwater, Becky Stratton returned to school and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Child Development and Early Education from Oklahoma State University. She then began teaching at OSU and worked to develop a series of short courses in child care and development that were sent out statewide.
