Collection contains brochures, newsletters, self-study reports, and faculty and student research and projects of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Oklahoma State University. Also includes photographs, slides, and negatives. Issues of the bulletins of the Oklahoma Pecan Growers Association and the Northern Nut Growers Association are also included.

Administrative History

This department began at Oklahoma A&M College in 1891 as the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture. In 1893, Horticulture became its own department that lasted until 1908 when the Department of Botany and Horticulture was established. Botany split from the department in 1915, leaving only Horticulture until 1922 when it expanded to the Department of Horticulture and Forestry. Forestry was dropped from the department name in 1932, although forestry classes were still offered through the department until 1946. The name changed to the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture in 1982.
