Administrative History

The Oklahoma Water Resources Research Institute (OWRRI) was established in 1965 by the U.S. Department of the Interior. OWRRI became part of Oklahoma State University’s Environmental Institute in 1976. In the early 1980s the University Center for Water Research (UCWR) was founded at OSU to act as an administrative unit for all water research being conducted at the university. Besides OWRRI, UCWR runs the Water Research Center (founded... in 1979 and supported by state appropriated funds) and the National Center for Ground Water Research (founded in 1979 by the EPA).
