Administrative History
The Oklahoma State University Emeriti Association was founded in 1989 with R. L. Henrickson as the first president. The goals of the association were stated in the original constitution as “to enhance professional and social interaction among emeritus faculty at Oklahoma State University and between the emeritus faculty and the faculty and administration of Oklahoma State University.” The constitution was later revised to state “retirees, the faculty, and administration, and to interact with other individuals and groups in ways which enhance the welfare of retired persons.” The association continues to support and encourage active participation by the Emeriti Association members with the University and in activities to enhance their physical, mental and social lives. Some of these activities include First Friday dinners, art exhibits, bridge clubs, investment club and Emeriti Ambassador program for the University. The activities of the association are coordinated through the campus office. Officers include a President, President-Elect, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer and Immediate Past President serving as the Executive Committee. A Council consisting of the six officers and nine elected councilors manage the business and administer the programs of the Association.
