Administrative History

On January 27, 2001 at about 5:35 p.m. in a snowstorm 20 miles south of Denver near Byers, Colorado the Beechcraft King Air 200 Catpass airplane crashed killing all ten people aboard. The airplane was one of three chartered to fly the OSU Men’s Basketball team, Athletic Department staff, and broadcasters from the basketball game against the University of Colorado at Boulder to Stillwater, Oklahoma. Those that died in the crash were basketball players Nate Fleming and Daniel Lawson, sports information employee Will Hancock, OSU director of basketball operations Pat Noyes, athletic trainer Brian Luinstra, student manager Jared Weiberg, broadcast engineer Kendall Durfey, Oklahoma City sports broadcaster William “Bill” Teegins, pilot Denver Mills, and co-pilot Bjorn Fahlstrom.
