Administrative History

The Ancient and Beneficent Order of the Red Red Rose was founded at Southeastern Normal School (now Southeastern Oklahoma State University) in Durant during the summer of 1918. OAMC President Henry G. Bennett is purported to have been one of the founding members—if not the founder—of this secret society of “school men.” Chapters were later formed at Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University), the University of Oklahoma, and other institutions around the state and the nation. At the time of preparing this finding aid, it is not known whether the organization still functions.
