Scope and Contents

Collection includes United States Geological Survey papers, maps, weather statistics, books, booklets, pamphlets, letters, notebooks, government publications, Oklahoma State University publications, and Alva J. Hickerson's unpublished papers. There is information from the U.S. Study Commission, Water Resources Policy Committee, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kerr Committee, Congress, House Committee, American Society of Engineers, and the Department of the Interior. The subjects covered in this collection are flood control, ecology, hydroelectric power, water quality and conservation, river navigation, dams and reservoirs, flood plain information, wind power, water resources and development, and stream flow in Oklahoma.

Biographical Sketch

Alva J. Hickerson (1914-), who graduated from Oklahoma A&M College in 1938, used these materials during his career as a hydraulics engineer at the Tulsa office for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
