Collection contains correspondence, reports, clippings, library-related material and personal papers of Edmon Low (1902-1983), director of the Oklahoma State University Library from 1940-1967. Subjects include library programs, budgets, staff/personnel matters and records, other university libraries, library science class materials, booklists, book orders, and statistics.

Biographical Sketch

Edmon Low was born in Kiowa, Indian Territory, in 1902. He graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1920; East Central State College, Ada, in 1926; University of Illinois in 1938; and University of Michigan in 1938. He was named director of the Oklahoma A&M College Library in 1940. He helped design a new library building which was opened in 1953. It was a model library and one of the first air conditioned and open stack libraries in the area. Mr. Low was active in state and national library associations. He retired in 1967, and passed away in 1983.
