Collection includes biographical information on Dr. Poole's life's work at OSU from a graduate student to Vice President, Emeritus and Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus. The bulk of the collection is the chronological file from his years as Dean of the College of Business Administration and the Vice President for University Relations.

Biographical Sketch

Dr. Richard W. Poole served as a Professor of Economics, was Dean of the College of Business Administration from 1965-1973, and was Vice President of University Relations from 1972-1988. The OSU Board of Regents made him a Regents Distinguished Service Professor in 1987. Dr. Poole conceived the idea of the Centennial celebrations at OSU, including creating the Centennial Advisory Commission and the Centennial Histories series. Dr. Poole has been recognized with countless outstanding awards and honors including the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame, Distinguished Service Award from the Oklahoma Council on Economic Education, Institutional Leadership Award from the Higher Education Alumni Council, and the Appreciation Award from the National University Teleconference Network. In further recognition, business leaders and friends have endowed the Richard W. Poole Professorship in Instructional Excellence in the OSU College of Business Administration. He received the Henry G. Bennett Distinguished Service Award in 1999.
