Collection contains 1 Order of Induction into Military Service of the United States notice, which drafted Elsworth M. Shafer for immediate military service beginning the 10th of November, 1918. He was to report to Nevada City, California. The notice is signed by H. Wright, member of the local board for Nevada County, California, and was signed on October 31, 1918.

Biographical Sketch

Elsworth M. Shafer is the son of Alfred M. and Ella Shafer. Born on October 8, 1895 in Pennsylvania, he worked as a miner in Grass Valley City, Nevada County, California, during the 1920s. He died on June 23, 1967, and is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
