Scope and Contents From the Collection: Collection contains an American flag with 46 stars. The flag is a gift of David D. Long whose grandfather, William Hobson Long, graduated from Oklahoma A&M College in 1923. The flag is purported to have flown in Guthrie, Oklahoma’s first state capital, when Oklahoma was admitted to the Union on November 16, 1907. Flags with 46 stars flew until January 6, 1912 when New Mexico became the 47th state admitted to the Union.
